ICU Setup at Home

Some patients no longer need to occupy a hospital ward, but still need continuous monitoring and equipment around them. For those families, Aura Health Services installs a full ICU setup at home in Lucknow — hospital bed, ventilator support, oxygen, a multiparameter monitor, infusion and suction — staffed by ICU-trained nurses with doctor visits as prescribed. What is installed is decided by the patient’s treating doctor, not by us.

What this service covers

What’s included

Care is arranged around the patient’s actual condition, so the exact plan is confirmed with you before anything starts. This service typically covers:

  • Hospital bed with side rails and adjustable head and leg positioning
  • Ventilator support for patients who need help breathing
  • Oxygen cylinder with flowmeter, or an oxygen concentrator
  • Multiparameter monitor — heart rate, blood pressure, SpO₂ and respiratory rate
  • Infusion pump for accurately controlled medication doses
  • Suction machine to clear secretions and keep the airway clear
  • Emergency drugs and equipment kept ready at the bedside
  • ICU-trained nurses on 12-hour or 24-hour shifts, with bedside physiotherapy where advised

Why it helps

The difference it makes at home

  • The patient stays with family

Care continues at home in a familiar room, with relatives present, instead of a ward with restricted visiting hours.

  • Usually costs less than a long ICU stay

A home setup is generally far cheaper than an extended hospital ICU bed. We put the equipment and staffing charges in writing before anything is installed.

  • Round-the-clock monitoring

Vitals are watched continuously and recorded, and anything outside the range your doctor has set is escalated straight away.

  • One team, not five vendors

Equipment, nursing shifts, doctor visits and physiotherapy are coordinated by the same team on a single number.

Who this is for

Families usually contact us about icu setup at home in situations like these:

  • Patients discharged from a hospital ICU who still need monitoring and equipment
  • Patients on long-term ventilator or oxygen support at home
  • Tracheostomy patients needing regular suction and airway care
  • Stroke, neurological and post-operative patients needing critical-care nursing
  • Families whose treating doctor has advised that care can continue at home

Questions & answers

ICU Setup at Home — frequently asked questions

The questions families ask us most about this service.

Who decides whether a patient can be cared for at home?

The patient’s treating doctor. Home ICU care suits some patients and not others, and that is a medical judgement, not ours. Share the discharge summary and your doctor’s advice with us and we will set up only what has been prescribed.

Is a home ICU the same as a hospital ICU?

No, and we will not tell you otherwise. A home setup gives you equipment, continuous monitoring and trained nursing. It does not give you an on-site specialist team, an operating theatre or immediate advanced intervention. If the patient’s condition needs a hospital, they belong in a hospital.

What happens if the patient deteriorates at home?

The nurse follows the escalation plan agreed with your doctor and contacts you and the treating doctor immediately. Aura Health Services does not operate ambulances — for emergency transport call 108 or 112, or your hospital’s own emergency number.

How quickly can the setup be installed?

It depends on which equipment your doctor has prescribed and what is available at the time. Tell us the requirement when you call and we will confirm a realistic timeline before you commit — we would rather give you an honest date than a fast one we cannot meet.

Can the equipment be taken on rent?

For most items, rental and purchase are both commonly available depending on the equipment and how long it is needed. Tell us the expected duration and we will explain what suits your situation.
